Andrew Strauss Remarries Seven Years After Wife's Passing

Sir Andrew Strauss, a former England cricket captain, has taken another step in his personal life by remarrying seven years after the passing of his first wife. At 48, he recently shared images of his wedding to Antonia Linnaeus-Peat, who is 30 years old, on Instagram. The ceremony took place in Franschhoek, South Africa, and was described as a special occasion for the couple.

In his post, Sir Andrew expressed gratitude to those who have supported him and his children. He wrote: “Celebrating the most special day in our favourite part of the world. Thank you for loving me and the boys the way you do and for showing us true happiness – I am so lucky to have found you. Here’s to a lifetime of beautiful memories, my girl.”

Antonia, who previously worked as a PR executive and now runs her own company, Linnaeus Fine Art Advisory, is believed to have started dating Sir Andrew around two years ago. Their relationship has clearly brought joy and stability into his life.

Sir Andrew's first wife, Ruth, passed away in December 2018 from a rare form of lung cancer. She was 46, and the couple had been married for 15 years. They have two sons, Samuel and Luca, who are now 19 and 17 years old, respectively.

In memory of his late wife, Sir Andrew established the Ruth Strauss Foundation. This charity supports families dealing with the loss of a parent due to illness and funds research into non-smoking-related lung cancers. The foundation serves as a lasting tribute to Ruth and aims to make a difference for others facing similar challenges.

During a 2023 interview with The Telegraph, Sir Andrew reflected on how grief has shaped his perspective. He stated: “Our time is limited, and therefore I need to be more conscious about what I do and don’t do. This might mean experiencing things that weren’t appealing to me before, or saying no to things even though I don’t want to let people down. But most of all, it means keeping the people most important to me happy.”

On the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast in November, Sir Andrew revealed that only close family members were invited to his second wedding, which took place last Wednesday at La Clè Vineyard, located approximately 50 miles east of Cape Town. The intimate setting highlighted the significance of this new chapter in his life.

Sir Andrew is currently not in Australia for England’s Ashes series, as he was recently married. His absence is notable, as he is the last England captain to have won an away Ashes series. This achievement came 15 years ago when he led England to a 3-1 victory in the 2010-11 series.

Since then, England has struggled in Australia, losing 14 out of the last 18 Tests and drawing two. Despite this, Sir Andrew remains a respected figure in the cricketing world, known for his leadership and contributions both on and off the field.
